Matt Misuraca,
LMFT #53014
I believe that my own healing journey over the past 31 years is my greatest asset as a therapist.
I grew up in a large mid-western, Italian-American family. I became aware of my own wounds and my inability to communicate in a healthy manner. So in my early twenties I made a decision to change this.
Over the years there have been many mentors and therapists that have been my guides---teaching me and leading me on my healing journey. I have been given a lot, and it is my time to give back. My path of healing has been a very unique path which has led me to where I am today. I was taught by a very wise man that before I can help others, I first had to do my own work---then and only then, would I be able to help others. So I did just that... What I learned from doing my work was that I didn't know myself. Today that is not true.
I learned that I must remain humble & teachable, which I'm reminded of everyday when working with others. I have learned from my many years of recovery, many teachers, many years of education---it is my turn; I get the honor of helping those on their path to learn to heal themselves, love themselves & have connection with others. What a Gift !

Helping accommodate at the JIRVANA Workshops is my wife, Maureen Misuraca. Maureen is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist and an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor, who has been on this path with me for over 25 years. She worked at the Betty Ford Center as a case manager for over 12 years. She has over 20 years of experiential training and is trained in Internal Family Systems. Besides keeping me organized, her loving presence and knowledge of this work is irreplaceable. She adds a spiritual focus that adds balance and peace to participants.
